$4.98 – PLEIN AIR PAINTING & SKETCH by TOM BROWN

$4.98 Auction – CLICK HERE to bid.
I was attracted to the wonderful design of the architecture as well as the light falling across the face of this beautiful home. I immediately knew I had to paint it.

To begin I quickly did a thumbnail pencil sketch on the 3x5 pad I carry in my pocket. This helped me "lock in" the direction of the sunlight, which would continue to change as I painted. The sketch and a photo of the site are shown below.

One of the best things you can do to become a better painter is to work out your composition first with a rough pencil sketch. But there is a specific way to do this, and there are certain things you should be evaluating with this process.

My video “PAINT BETTER BY SKETCHING FIRST” will show you how.
